Glenn White, director of the Buteyko Breathing Clinic, is presenting two seminars in November on breathing to boost sports performance at Les Mills, Victoria Street and Les Mills Britomart, Auckland CBD.
Have you ever considered how your breathing might be limiting your sports performance?
The common perception is that the more we breathe, the healthier we are. During exercise you're often instructed to take deep breaths; how many times have you heard "Breathe in through the nose, out through the mouth"? However, both pieces of advice contradict fundamental principles of respiration. Glenn White will introduce an approach to health and fitness that you're unlikely to have heard anywhere else. In the seminar he'll explain functional and dysfunctional breathing and how incorrect breathing may be the underlying cause of respiratory and cardiac disorders, sleep disorders, chronic fatigue, and stress-related conditions.
In the seminars Glenn will show how to take your fitness to the next level with breathing techniques used by elite athletes. Breathing correctly will boost sport performance, improve cardiovascular efficiency and speed recovery. The techniques can be used effectively for any level of fitness, from your daily walk to high-level performance. Optimal breathing can also help reduce stress, give you greater energy and yes, snore-free, restful sleep.
If you:
- find it difficult to breathe through your nose when exercising
- find that exercise makes you breathless
- are slow to recover from exercise
Or, if you suffer from any of these symptoms: snoring, sleep apnoea, asthma, seasonal hay-fever, nasal congestion, fatigue, anxiety attacks or high blood pressure, then improving your breathing might be the single-most-important consideration to improve your health and fitness.
The session will include:
- Breathing assessment
- Breathing techniques to use before and during exercise
- Guidelines to boost exercise performance and recovery
- Guidelines to improve performance and stamina by increasing oxygen delivery to muscle when exercising
- Breathing exercises to speed recovery after exercise (reduce lactic acid in muscle)
- Guidelines for exercising without breathlessness or asthma symptoms
Glenn has helped over 4,000 New Zealanders overcome breathing-related disorders to enjoy better health and fitness. If you want to feel more invigorated after exercise, enjoy greater energy levels, be snore-free, have restful sleep and learn simple stress-reducing techniques then you should not miss this seminar.
